Advantages and disadvantages of chromite sand and ceramsite sand

Chromite sand is a special sand for foundry. Based on chromite, it is mainly natural spinel, which is crushed and sieved to a specified particle size, suitable for modeling (core making) sand. The advantages of chromite sand are mainly used in casting production for the surface sand of large steel castings to prevent the surface of the castings from sticking to sand; secondly, its ground powder is used as refractory aggregate for casting coatings; chromite sand is a chilling material, Part of cold iron can be replaced when modeling (core making).

The advantages of ceramsite sand are that it is widely distributed and low in cost; du but its shortcomings are quite obvious: first, the expansion coefficient is large, and the casting precision is low; the second is the serious sand sticking on the surface of the casting and it is difficult to clean sand. Quartz will generate a variety of homogeneous and heterogeneous crystals at different temperatures, and the volume changes greatly; limited by the refractoriness (the refractoriness of quartz sand is between 1400-1700℃), the casting parts (holes, grooves, and hot spots) It is especially serious in the production of large steel castings.
