What are the characteristics of chromite sand in foundry?

1. Chromite has excellent cooling performance. It will not reduce hot cracks, but will affect the temperature gradient and promote directional solidification without the use of cold iron.
2. Chromite is inert, so it will not react with other metal oxides. Will not be wetted by manganese steel. Manganese steel castings can be successfully used in chromite sand. If the mold is sprayed normally and the silica content is low, the olivine iron will not react.

3. The linear expansion of chromite is small, which may cause sand inclusions in the castings, so it can be used to mix the green sand molds of large castings.

4. Chromite sand is sintered with fine particles to eliminate metal infiltration, accompanied by cooling and high residual thermal strength. 5. Chromite sand is universal and can be used in various joints.

6. Unlike silica sand, chromite sand has no adverse effects on health.
