AFS Standard for Chromite Sand (Preferred by Overseas Buyers)
AFS stands for the unified international grain size designation for foundry industry. All export chromite sand orders adopt AFS labeling. Mainstream grades and uses:
- AFS25~30: Coarse sand for extra-heavy thick steel castings
- AFS30~35: For large carbon steel and high manganese steel castings
- AFS35~40: General-purpose sand for large steel castings, equivalent to domestic 40/70 mesh
- AFS40~45: All-purpose mainstream grade matching most resin sand and sodium silicate sand processes
- AFS45~50: Highest sales volume for stainless steel and precision castings
- AFS50~55: Small & medium precision stainless steel castings and pipe fittings
- AFS60~65: Fine facing sand for thin-wall small components
